Perform a search in Science Direct:
Select the article you wish to read:
Select Export and Save to Mendeley from the Drop down menu:
The Web Importer will now open, select Save and the file will upload to Mendeley Web and Mendeley Desktop:

Mendeley Desktop
The pdf file will not always download in this scenario but the reference will be in your reference library.
